Rules and Regulations
For the mutual protection of lot owners and the cemetery as a whole, the following rules and regulations have been adopted by the Board of Trustees of Mount Kenton Cemetery, as the Rules and Regulations of Mount Kenton Cemetery. All lot owners and visitors within the cemetery and all lots sold shall be subject to said rules and regulations. Further, to such other rules and regulations, amendments or alterations as shall be adopted by the Trustees of Mount Kenton Cemetery from time to time and the reference to these rules and regulations in the deed or certificate of ownership to a lot or plot shall have the same force and effect as if set forth in full herein.
GENERAL RULES:
1) Persons within the cemetery shall use only the main roads and walkways. No one is permitted to walk upon or across lots or graves unless it is necessary to do so to gain access to one's lot or to transport and be a part of a funeral in a designated section.
2) Persons visiting the cemetery or attending funerals are strictly prohibited from picking flowers, breaking or injuring shrubs, trees, etc.
3) The speed limit in Mount Kenton Cemetery is ten (10) miles per hour. All vehicles must be kept under control at all times when driving through the cemetery or as a part of a funeral procession. Please watch for pedestrians.
4) No bicycles, motorcycles, or scooters will be admitted to the cemetery except in attendance at funerals or definite cemetery business.
5) Children under sixteen (16) years of age are not permitted within the cemetery or its buildings, unless accompanied by an adult or member of management.
6) All trash or debris needs to be placed in provided containers throughout the cemetery.
7) The placing of boxes, shells, toys, metal designs, wire to hold baskets, and similar articles, upon plots are not permitted on the ground. If they are placed on the monument they must be secured. The cemetery is not responsible for missing or broken objects placed on grave sites.
8) No lot shall be used for any other purpose than for the burial of the human dead.
9) An outer burial container is required for all ground burials with exception of religious customs
PLANTS AND SHRUBS:
1) The cemetery will undertake to maintain, as may be practical, the planting of trees and shrubs to preserve and maintain landscape features, but does not at any time maintain individual plantings, urns or plants set by lot owners.
2) There will be no individual beds of shrubbery or flowers allowed on the grounds except by special permission of the Board of Trustees. A scaled sketch of the proposed planting shall accompany application for the same indicating the position and names of plants suggested.
3) There shall be no jars, glass, or metal receptacles or other containers for the holding of flowers or floral arrangements that might cause damage to cemetery equipment and employees working in keeping the cemetery clean. At no time will wires be permitted to hold down floral arrangements or other plantings.
4) The management shall have the authority to remove all floral designs, flowers, weeds, trees, shrubs, plants, or herbage of any kind from the cemetery as soon, as in the judgment of the management, they become unsightly, dangerous, detrimental, or diseased, or when they do not conform to the standards maintained or when they overhang or extend over adjoining lots, driveways, or walks.
5) The cemetery will not be liable for floral pieces, baskets, or frames in which, or to which, such floral pieces are attached beyond the acceptance of such floral pieces for a cemetery service held in the cemetery. The cemetery reserves the right to remove such floral pieces from the grave at such time as it sees fit.
6) The cemetery management or employees shall not be held responsible for frozen plants, herbage or any kind of plantings damaged by the elements, thieves, vandals, or by other causes beyond its control.
7) The cemetery reserves the right to prevent the removal of any flowers, floral designs, trees, shrubs, plant or herbage of any kind unless the management gives consent.
MEMORIALS, MARKERS AND TOMBSTONES:
1) Memorials of cement, artificial stone, composition, wood, tin or iron is not permitted.
2) Temporary markers will only be permitted from the funeral home at the time of burial until a permanent marker is set. The cemetery is not responsible for damaged or missing markers.
3) Plans, specifications and location of any kind of marker, tombstone, etc., in all plots and lots are subject to the approval of cemetery management.
4) All monuments, markers, etc., shall be of the finest quality of granite, marble or other natural stone.
